1. About This Policy

Lap Club Pty Ltd ("we", "us", "our") operates the following products (collectively, the "Services"):

Lap Club — a travel companion platform for Australians doing the Big Lap (web & mobile app)
FuelSpy — a fuel price comparison tool sourcing government data (web & mobile app)
CampPulse — a community-driven campsite condition reporting app (web & mobile app)

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information across all of our Services. By using any of our Services, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.

We comply with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

2. Information We Collect

The data we collect varies by product. The table below summarises what applies to each:

2.1 Account Information

Applies to: Lap Club, CampPulse

Full name / display name
Email address
Password (encrypted — we never store plaintext passwords)
Google account identifier (if you sign in with Google)

CampPulse also supports anonymous accounts — no personal identifiers are collected until you choose to upgrade.

FuelSpy does not require an account. No personal information is collected, stored, or transmitted by FuelSpy. There are no sign-ups, no tracking, and no analytics. Your data stays on your device.

2.2 Vehicle & Rig Profile

Applies to: Lap Club, CampPulse

Vehicle make, model, and setup type (caravan, camper, motorhome, 4WD)
Rig length and type (CampPulse — used for rig-aware campsite filtering)
Fuel type, tank size, and fuel consumption (Lap Club)
Solar panel wattage and battery capacity (Lap Club)
Water tank size and grey water capacity (Lap Club)

2.3 Location Data

Applies to: All Services (opt-in only)

With your permission, we access your device's GPS to:

Show nearby fuel stations, campsites, water points, and dump points on the map
Verify campsite pulse submissions are from nearby users (CampPulse)
Provide navigation and route planning (Lap Club)
Send your GPS coordinates to emergency contacts during a panic alert (Lap Club)

Location access is opt-in only. You can revoke it at any time through your device settings. For FuelSpy, location is used on-device only and is never sent to our servers.

2.4 Trip & Logbook Data

Applies to: Lap Club

Daily log entries (dates, kilometres driven, camp names, camp types)
Trip routes and itineraries
Budget and expense tracking data (categories, amounts, dates)

2.5 Community Content

Applies to: Lap Club, CampPulse

Campsite condition updates ("pulses"), including text, ratings, and timestamps (CampPulse)
Campsite photos uploaded via the camera or photo library (CampPulse)
Community forum posts and comments (Lap Club)
Conversations with the AI Concierge (Lap Club)

2.6 Emergency Contacts

Applies to: Lap Club

You may store emergency contact names and phone numbers. These are used solely to send SOS text messages on your behalf in an emergency.

2.7 Camera & Photo Library

Applies to: CampPulse

CampPulse may request access to your camera and photo library to enable campsite photo submissions. Photos are uploaded to our servers only when you explicitly submit a pulse. We do not access your camera or photo library for any other purpose.

2.8 Automatically Collected Data

Each third-party service has its own privacy policy. We encourage you to review them. We do not sell your personal information to any third party.

5. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored in Google Firebase (Firestore & Firebase Storage) servers. Firebase infrastructure complies with ISO 27001 and SOC 2 certifications.
Passwords are handled by Firebase Authentication and are never stored in plaintext.
Campsite photos (CampPulse) are stored in Firebase Storage with access controls.
Emergency contacts and some preferences are cached in your browser's localStorage for offline access.
Data in transit is encrypted via HTTPS/TLS.
We implement Firestore security rules so that your data can only be read by your authenticated account.

6. Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account remains active. If you delete your account:

Personal information will be deleted or anonymised within 30 days
Community contributions (Lap Club forum posts, CampPulse pulses) may be anonymised and retained to preserve community value
Uploaded photos associated with pulses may be retained in anonymised form

Cached data in your browser's localStorage can be cleared at any time through your browser settings.

FuelSpy retains no user data as no data is collected.

7. Your Rights

Under the Australian Privacy Principles, you have the right to:

Access the personal information we hold about you
Correct inaccurate or outdated information
Delete your account and associated data
Withdraw consent for location tracking, camera access, or other optional data collection at any time
Complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) if you believe your privacy has been breached

8. Cookies & Local Storage

Our Services use browser localStorage to store preferences, cached data, and session tokens. We do not use third-party advertising cookies. Firebase may set functional cookies for authentication purposes.

9. Children's Privacy

Our Services are not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected such data, we will delete it promptly.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of any of our Services after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
